The Federation was established in 1947 as an independent, non-profit making organisation to support the needs of window cleaners in the UK.

Code of Good Practice

The Federations Charter of good Practice for their Members Clients

1.  Members are committed to the following practices towards their clients:

a) To be of good service - by which we mean regular attendance, safe, efficient and caring attitude.

2.  Equal treatment to all customers whether they are private – houses, mansions, offices, shops, factories, car showrooms and others.

3.  To attend to problems as they arise, quickly and efficiently, and to respond to complaints immediately.

4.  To be compliant and aware of Health and Safety regulations and to keep abreast of new regulations as and when they are implemented and promoted by the federation.

5.  That all members and their employees should have received suitable and sufficient training to enable them to work in a safe and competent manner.

6.  Constantly encourage employers and their employees to develop their skills and abilities to the highest degree, and to insist on a high level of integrity from his/her employees, remembering that at all times the position they hold in working and moving around the clients premises.  Also, remembering that confidentiality is a constant watchword during working situations.

7.  To constantly wear your name badge, which gives the employees, name and that of the company he works for.

8.  Finally to keep in the forefront of employers mind the objects outlined in the federations Rule- book, and to promote the objects of it.

Mission Statement:

To give guidance to employers and master who are engaged in the trade of window cleaning and general cleaning; To regulate the relations between employer and employer, or employer and employees, and to regulate conditions on the conduct of the trade as may be deemed necessary.

To assist members in a fair remuneration for their labour and to establish and maintain satisfactory conditions of employment.

To negotiate the settlement of disputes arising between employer and employer, or employer and employees, or between any persons who may be interested in the trade of window cleaning and general cleaning.

To give either alone or in conjunction with any other body, fair wages and conditions of labour for employees engaged in the window cleaning trade.
