Disclosure and Barring Service

What is DBS?

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps Donnington make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) and is an executive non-departmental public body of the Home Office.

What is the difference between a standard and enhanced DBS check?

A DBS check is what used to be called a CRB check.  A standard DBS check involves a check of an applicant's criminal record against the Police National Computer for any reprimands, warnings, cautions or convictions.

An enhanced DBS check includes all the information included as part of a standard check, plus any information held locally by police forces that’s considered relevant to the child workforce and post applied for.

Donnington has effective procedures in place, and the security vetting system is no exception. We make sure all our staff, from directors to cleaners, whether recruited by us or taken over on a contract have the legal right to work in the UK and pose no threat to your business.
